Kisan March:Thousands Of Farmers Gather In Delhi For 2-Day Protest Rally

NEW DELHI: Thousands of farmers from across the country started to converge in Delhi on Thursday for a two-day protest rally to press for their demands.

On Friday, politicians from various opposition parties are expected to address the farmers and assure them of their support.

The All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), which claims to be an umbrella body of 207 organisations of farmers and agricultural workers.

Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav is the leader of the group that began march from Bijwasan on Delhi-Haryana border.

Raising the banner of protest among them are women farmers who see themselves as worse than their male counterparts.

The farmers, who converged at Ramlila Ground here and will march to Parliament Street on Friday, have come from different corners of the country, including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

A group of farmers from Tamil Nadu arrived in Delhi, carrying skulls of two of their colleagues who had committed suicide and threatening to march naked if they are not allowed to go to Parliament on Friday.

The two-day rally will be “one of the largest congregations of farmers” in Delhi, the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) claimed on Wednesday.Support for farmers have started pouring with activists taking to Twitter to ask the general public to join the march.
